The following information below is the criteria for each scenario of an incoming email getting automatically filed.
MAIL NOT FILED:

The email sender is not associated with a contact in SARA.

The email sender is associated with multiple contacts across different customers in SARA. (Does not work with one-to-many relationships.)
AUTO-FILED:

The email sender is only associated with one contact.

The subject line of the email is associated with the "Subject Tag" generated on outgoing emails in SARA.

If "Email By Company" is set up with a different Mail Setting for each individual company. (Maintained in Admin Master Files Company.) The email will auto-file to the correct company as long as the email address is only associated with one contact within that company.
